Where Tradition Finds New Expression
Vine-sage emerged from a simple observation: talented South African craftspeople often struggle to reach audiences who would genuinely value their work. Simultaneously, collectors and design enthusiasts frequently encounter mass-produced items marketed as "artisan" with little connection to authentic making traditions.
Founded in 2019, we set out to build bridges. Our team spent the first eighteen months travelling to remote studios in the Eastern Cape, meeting woodworkers in Mpumalanga, and documenting ceramic traditions in Limpopo. This fieldwork established relationships that remain central to our operations today.
We believe handcraft carries cultural memory. When you acquire a piece from our network, you participate in keeping those traditions alive for future generations.
